Hailstones during thunderstorms in Kibworth last night

Residents in the Harborough District are assessing the damage to their property this morning after a severe thunderstorm hit the Kibworth area
just after six o’clock yesterday evening (20th July).
There were hailstones the size of golf balls accompanied by torrential rainfall.
Major damage has been reported to cars, roofs and conservatories – with windows smashed – whilst drains were overwhelmed by the deluge.
There’s been widespread flooding in Kibworth, including on Rectory Lane, where some householders found themselves ankle deep in water.
Police closed roads, and emergency services were also called to Kibworth Court Care Home last night to evacuate ground floor residents.
The freak weather arrived after another hot day – when temperatures hit 30 degrees Celsius.
