Go-Ahead For School To Build New Sports Hall

The go-ahead has been given for a Market Harborough School to build a new sports hall.

Welland Park Academy says the state-of-the-art facility, which will also be made available for community use, is much needed, as its current hall is too small.

It is also not high enough to meet requirements for badminton and trampolining.

Harborough District Council has granted planning permission for it to be constructed on the edge of the sports field.

The school has been awarded £1m of ‘Section 106’ funding towards its plans to increase pupil numbers – money provided by housing developers to improve community facilities.

It will use some of the cash to fund the project.
