Market Harborough Building Society has been given the go-ahead to redevelop its historic base in the town centre.
The project will see the upper floors of Welland House on The Square converted into flats, while the branch area will be expanded.
Dedicated space will also be created for charities and community groups to use.

The move follows MHBS’s head office staff relocating from the Grade II-listed building to a new headquarters on the edge of town last year.
Work on the redevelopment is scheduled to begin next spring, following permission from Harborough District Council.
Tim Neal, Head of Footprint at MHBS said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have been granted planning permission to invest in Welland House, a truly iconic town centre building.
“This marks a significant step forward in our commitment to creating spaces that serve and inspire our community.
“Our immediate priority is to discharge the conditions attached to our application, and in parallel we will be finalising our design plans to revitalise our branch to better meet the evolving needs of our members and local community.”
