Go-Ahead For Huge Solar Farm Near Welford

A huge solar farm is to be built across nearly 200 acres of land near Welford.
The green energy project will span across six fields off South Kilworth Road, on the Northamptonshire-Leicestershire border.
The applicant, Welford Solar Farms Limited, says the development has the potential to generate up to 49.9MW of renewable electricity, the equivalent of supplying electricity to approximately 14,500 homes, and displacing 11,500 tonnes of CO2 per year.
It is estimated 50 jobs will be created during the construction of the solar farm, which will see the installation of hundreds of solar panels.
There area will also continue to be used for livestock grazing.
West Northamptonshire Council has given planning permission for the development.
