Gas Leak Forces Closure Of Part Of Main Road In Market Harborough

Emergency work to fix a gas leak has led to part of Springfield Street in Market Harborough being closed to traffic.
The section between the Northampton Road junction and entrance to Sainsbury’s and the Springfield Retail Park is shut in both directions, with the closure to be in place for the next few days.

Emergency repairs are being carried out by Cadent Gas and a spokesperson told HFM: “The leak is on one of our larger gas mains meaning we have had to close that section of the road to carry out the repairs.
“We began work today and hope to have the repair completed and the road surface reinstated by the weekend.
“No gas supplies are affected and we shall be maintaining access to people living in Springfield Court.”
Drivers can still access Sainsbury’s and the retail park from the Kettering Road/St Mary’s Road direction, with diversions signposted.
