Fury As Villagers Face Renewed Water Supply Problems During Heatwave

Villagers near Market Harborough say they are frustrated after experiencing further water supply problems during the current heatwave.
The issues are affecting areas including East Farndon, Clipston, Great Oxendon and Kelmarsh, with some residents reporting no water at all and others experiencing very low pressure.
There were similar problems during the last hot spell over the May bank holiday weekend.
Residents have described significant disruption at home and work, with some saying they were unable to shower or carry out basic household tasks.
The issues are affecting areas including East Farndon, Clipston and Kelmarsh.
One resident in East Farndon said: “It’s completely off here… I can’t believe they are doing this again. My daughter is very ill and we had no notification.”
Another said: “Nowhere else would you be expected to pay for a service that you are not getting.”
Anglian Water blamed previous problems on a pump failure linked to a major outdoor event at Kelmarsh Hall, which put increased pressure on the system.

An Anglian Water spokesperson said: “Yesterday (Wednesday 24th June), the increased demand during the warm weather may have caused low pressure or a short interruption to supply for a small number of customers.
“Our team teams acted quickly to move water around our network to get taps running again, with normal service restored within a few hours.
“We know that going without water in the hot weather is difficult, particularly after similar issues over the late May bank holiday. We’d like to thank our customers in Market Harborough for bearing with us while we got things back to normal.”
Anglian Water’s chief executive has also previously faced questions after repeated outages left villages without water over the bank holiday period, with the local MP for Daventry raising concerns after being contacted by residents in East Farndon, where taps ran dry for several days.
