Free Parking Extension Considered

A decision on whether people will be able to park longer for free in Market Harborough town centre is expected to be made in November.

Leicestershire County Council is looking at responses made during a public consultation into plans to increase time limits in on-street parking bays from 40 minutes to one hour.

Traders have welcomed the idea, saying it will give people more time to visit shops.

A more controversial plan, to allow parking on Roman Way during the day, which is currently prohibited, is also being considered.

There are fears that would create a safety hazard.
