Foxton Locks To Temporarily Reopen For Boaters

Foxton Locks will temporarily reopen to boats next week after closing due to low water levels.

The Canal & River Trust has confirmed the reopening, from Monday until November 2nd, will allow boaters to return to home moorings or reach essential services before winter.

The locks were closed in August as reservoirs feeding the canal fell to critically low levels due to drought conditions.

Boaters will be able to use the locks for a week from Monday

During the week-long reopening, volunteer lock keepers will operate the locks daily.

The site has remained open while the locks have been out of use and visitors can also enjoy a range of autumn events, including spooky Half Term crafts, a Goblin Door trail, and guided tours of the Victorian Inclined Plane.
