Foxton Locks Cafe Owner Wins Fight To Stay Open
Written by HFM News on 27th August 2021
The owner of the popular café at Foxton Locks is celebrating getting permission to continue to run the venue.
Top Lock Coffee Shop was threatened with closure earlier this year, but following a review by the Canal and River Trust, Gary Hives has been handed a two-year extension to his lease.
Over 2,000 people signed a petition backing the plight of Gary and his family, who have run the café for the past 15 years.
Harborough MP Neil O’Brien also backed the campaign.
Gary is thanking people for all their support:
A spokesperson for the Canal and River Trust told Hfm: “We’re really pleased to have agreed a lease extension with Gary and are looking forward to working together to make Foxton even more enjoyable for everyone that visits.”
