A fox cub rescued from the canal in Market Harborough has sadly died.
The animal had been making good progress at Leicestershire Wildlife Hospital in Kibworth, but is thought to have been suffering from pneumonia and passed away last night.
Russ Bennett from Desborough was praised for swimming into the water to save the cub from drowning on Saturday afternoon.

The Wildlife Hospital issued the sad update, saying: “Unfortunately we have some sad news that the fox cub has passed away.
“After improving since his arrival, he suddenly collapsed again in the last hour and was in a critical condition again and passed away.
“We suspect him suffering from pneumonia had led to heart failure and caused his death.
“Unfortunately in this case he could not be saved and this is the sadness of our work.”
