Foal Rescued In Lubenham

Firefighters rescued a “distressed” foal from a brook in Lubenham yesterday afternoon after it got stuck in mud.
They were called to off the A4304 Harborough Road just after 1.30pm and were able to free the animal before it was checked over by the RSPCA and a vet and being reunited with its mother.
A spokesman for Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Service said: “The initial emergency call was received after a member of the public reported a foal stuck in water and in distress.
“On arrival, the incident commander requested the RSPCA and a vet to assist them.
“The animal was stuck in approximately 1ft of water. Its mother was led away from the area while rescue attempts were made.”
“Crews managed to recover the foal from the water and it was reunited with its mother.”
