Former Market Harborough Furniture Store In Liquidation With Debts Of Over £2.7m

A former Market Harborough furniture store which closed earlier this year is now in liquidation with debts of over £2.7m.
Furniture Loft ceased trading leaving hundreds of customers without items they had paid for.

Documents seen by HFM News reveal the extent of the firm’s liabilities and show 440 customers are owed a total of over £488,000.
Some who paid for furniture by credit or debit card were able to get refunds from their banks.
Among others, the company also owes over £465,000 to HM Revenue and Customs and £59,000 to Harborough District Council.
40 creditors are listed in total, including Furniture Loft Director Richard Kimbell, who made a personal loan to the company of over £1.5m.
The voluntary liquidation comes as Leicestershire Trading Standards continue to investigate the firm’s collapse in June.
Officers seized a number of items from the closed store on the Riverside Industrial Estate in September, as part of their enquiries.
A spokesman for Leicestershire County Council told HFM enquiries are ‘on-going’.
