Former Hotel Set To Become New Base For College

Market Harborough’s former Angel Hotel is set to become a new base for Brooke House College‘s catering facilities.
It will be used to provide meals for students and staff if a plan is approved, following the closure of the historic hotel a year ago.
42 boarding students would also reside there, together with three live-in staff.
A planning application has been handed to Harborough Council, to change the use of the former Grade II-listed High Street hotel to a Residential Education Institution.
It includes minor internal works to one of the former stable blocks, but no other changes.
The College, which has 234 students and 105 staff, say the move would bring high levels of regular footfall into the town centre, as students visit for meals, creating prospective customers for town centre businesses.
The Angel, a former coaching inn, dating back to the 16th century, owned by Brooke House College’s owners, had accommodated older students at various times during the past 15 years and at the start of last year more rooms were allocated for that purpose.
