Foodbank Thanks People For Their Support
Written by HFM News on 19th December 2019
Volunteers at Market Harborough Foodbank are thanking people for their support as they get set to complete their busiest ever year.
The Jubilee Foodbank relies on donations from the public, particularly approaching Christmas when there is a surge in demand from people struggling to afford food.
It’s also supported by a number of businesses and charities.
Emma Fletcher is one of the volunteers on the Management Committee at the Foodbank:
So far this year the Foodbank helped just under 1,900 people in Harborough suffering food poverty, receiving an average of 80 referrals a month from various organisations.
By the end of December it will have provided around 18,000 meals in 2019.
A dedicated team of 50 volunteers work at the Foodbank, which has seen demand increase year on year since it was launched in 2012.
