Food Waste Collections Could Re-Start Across Harborough

Food waste collections could be re-introduced across Harborough.
It is one pledge of a new strategy, which sets out how councils in Leicestershire will deal with waste and reduce the amount going to landfill between now and 2050.
A previous food waste collection service in the Harborough District was scrapped in 2012, due to low usage, and the District Council says it could only re-start with additional government funding.
All district and borough councils in the county are being asked to adopt the strategy, which has been put together following public consultation and comes ahead of expected changes in government policy on waste and recycling.
The idea of only emptying black bins once every three weeks was muted, but is not included in the final strategy.
