Flood Alert Issued For Harborough Area

The Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for the Harborough area.

It says flooding is possible near the River Welland and River Jordan.

The alert reads: “Over the last 24 hours we have seen rainfall in the River Welland Valley area.

“This means that the River Welland and its tributaries are now rising, which will lead to flooding of low-lying land and roads close to the river from the evening of Thursday 28th March onwards.

“We expect the river to remain high throughout the next few days and flooding to gardens, driveways or outhouses is possible close to the river.

“Our forecasts indicate that flooding inside properties isn’t likely, and therefore flood warnings are not expected to be issued.”
