Firefighters To Walk 150 Miles In Memory of Colleague

Firefighters from Billesdon are to take on a 150-mile walking challenge in full kit to raise money in memory of a colleague.

The fundraiser is in honour of Watch Manager Jon Partridge, who died suddenly in February aged 38, following a medical emergency.

The ten-day trek next month will link up all 20 fire stations across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, starting and finishing at Billesdon Fire Station, where Jon spent much of his career.

The team hopes to raise £10,000 for the Fire Fighters’ Charity and Jon’s family and will be joined by other members of Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service along the route.

Dan Fathers, District Manager for Eastern and Billesdon, told HFM it will be a fitting tribute:

Billesdon Fire Station Crew Manager David Hurst added: “This walk is in honour of Jon, who was a close work colleague at Billesdon Fire Station and a good friend, and is dearly missed. We want to raise what money we can for his family and also for the Fire Fighters Charity.

“We’ve organised several teams of Firefighters to undertake the various stages between all 20 of our stations, starting on Thursday 9 October and finishing back here at Billesdon Fire Station on Saturday 18 October.”

9 October – Billesdon to Kibworth to Market Harborough

10 October – Market Harborough to Lutterworth

11 October – Lutterworth to Hinckley to Market Bosworth

12 October – Market Bosworth to Coalville to Ashby

13 October – Ashby to Castle Donnington to Shepshed

14 October – Shepshed to Loughborough to Birstall to Western

15 October – Western to Southern to Wigston to Central to Eastern

16 October – Eastern to Melton

17 October – Melton to Oakham to Uppingham

18 October – Uppingham to Billesdon
