Felled Trees Being Replaced

Work is underway to replace trees that had to be felled at two parks for safety reasons.

A mix of copper beech, cherry blossom, English walnut, crab apple and American sweet-gum trees are being planted in Market Harborough’s Welland Park – by the dog walking area and the river bank – and at the Little Bowden Recreation Ground.

Some will also be go up on Bates Close in Market Harborough.

Cllr Jonathan Bateman, portfolio holder for Environment and Regulatory Service, said: “It is always sad when trees become diseased and need to be cut down to protect the public so this tree planting scheme is to be very much welcomed. It will go some way to replacing those recently lost in these popular parks.”

The trees have had to be cut down after being declared unsafe by an independent tree survey.
