Fantastic Response To Ukrainian Aid Appeal

There has been a fantastic response to an appeal launched locally to help refugees fleeing Ukraine.

Over 100 people queued to donate items in Great Bowden last night, with organisers overwhelmed by the support.

The appeal is centred on helping babies, as there is a major shortage of supplies for them,

There are further drop-off sessions today at Great Bowden Village Hall between 12pm and 12.30pm and 7pm and 7.30pm.

There was another collection last night at Haselbach Church and will be another there this evening.

The aid will be taken to either Poland or Hungry, where many Ukrainian refugees have fled to.

Organisers of the appeal are in need of cardboard packing boxes, either new or re-used – if you could help please call 07966 319 382.

They are also urging people to sort donations into bags or ideally boxes that have the same items in them, for example nappies in one box, medicines in another.

A Justgiving page has been set-up for people to make further donations to help the appeal, which now has enough vans to transport all the donations to a warehouse, where they will be sorted.
