Fans Thanked For Their Behaviour During England Match

Police say the majority of football fans out watching the England game in Market Harborough last night were well behaved.

While there was reports of some disorder on St Mary’s Road during England’s 2-1 defeat to Croatia, when officers arrived people were dispersing.

Assistant Chief Constable Jason Masters said: “On behalf of Leicestershire Police, I want to thank the majority of fans who were out supporting England and kept their celebrations and commiserations sensible creating a night for everyone across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland to enjoy – even with the final score. We are pleased with how the majority of fans reacted throughout the evening and hope this continues on Saturday.

“We move on with developing plans for the playoff game when we hope we can celebrate a third place, and that again these celebrations remain sensible with due respect for everyone else.”
