An extra £5m is set to be invested into dealing with potholes.

Leicestershire County Council wants to use the cash to speed-up its repair programme, following a big increase in road defects during the cold snap earlier this year.

Over 1,700 potholes still need to fixed with the number increasing by about 20 a week.

It approved a meeting next week it’ll take the county’s road maintenance budget to £24m.
