Expressive Arts Project Launches In Harborough

An expressive visual art project entitled ‘Building A Greener Future Together’ is running in Market Harborough from today.

Starting at the Market Hall and running at different venues throughout half-term week, children and adults are invited to craft messages using old newspapers and magazines, which will be placed on brick-sized cardboard blocks.

Artist Danielle Vaughan, renowned for her creative practice of turning trash into treasure, is leading the free project and spoke to HFM:

The initiative is part of the ‘Animating Leicestershire Towns’ project, supported by Harborough District Council.

The timetable is as follows:

Harborough Indoor Market, Northampton Road

Tuesday 20 February – 10am to 12pm and 1-3pm

Thursday 22 February – 10am to 12pm

Saturday 24 February – 10 to 12pm and 1-2pm

St Dionysius Church

Wednesday 21 February – 10.30am to 1.30pm

Market Harborough Library

Thursday 22 February – 2-4pm

The Eco Village, 65 St Mary’s Road

Friday 23 February – 10am to 12pm

Cllr Phil Knowles, Leader of Harborough District Council and Cabinet lead for Culture, Leisure, Economy, and Tourism, said: “It’s fantastic that Market Harborough is involved in this unique community arts project which will bring people of all ages together through creativity and shared views on environmental issues. As well as boosting town centre footfall there are wellbeing and health benefits through these social interaction opportunities.”
