EV Charging Hub For Market Harborough Car Park

A new electric vehicle charging hub is to be installed in Market Harborough’s Commons Car Park as part of project costing over £2m.

It will include six double 7.4kwh charge points for 12 cars, with a solar panel canopy and battery storage system to help produce the electricity needed.

Harborough District Council is leading the ‘Flex D’ project, which aims to increase the network of publicly available charge points.

Seven of the hubs will be installed across Leicestershire in a collaboration between councils and Midlands Net Zero Hub, with government funding of £1.15m helping fund the installations.

Planning permission is needed before the hub can be installed in the northern part of the car park in Market Harborough, opposite the Co-Op store.
