Drivers Urged Not To Move ‘Road Closed’ Signs

People are being urged not to remove signs from a road shut for safety reasons.
Police had to be called to block off Station Road near Wistow last night, after ‘road closed’ signs were moved from the carriageway and drivers thought it had re-opened.
A spokesperson for Leicestershire County Council told HFM: “Road closure signs are in place for safety reasons and we ask that drivers don’t take unnecessary risks by moving road closure signs, and a diversion is in place whilst our highways team work to resolve to repair the bridge.”
The road is closed between Wistow and near Great Glen after major damage was caused to a bridge earlier this week, when a box-van collided with it.
It will remain closed until repairs can be completed.
