Firefighters have rescued a dog after a fire at a house in Broughton Astley.

Crews were called to Muncaster Close just after midday, after neighbours raised the alarm when they saw smoke coming from the roof of the property.

The fire was located on a 1st floor landing and extinguished by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.

The dog was taken to safety and no-one was injured.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service say a positive pressure fan is being used to ventilate the property and an  investigation into how the fire started is underway.

Crews from Lutterworth and Southern fire stations were sent to the incident.
