Decisions Made On Primary School Places

Most youngsters across Harborough have secured a place at one of their family’s preferred primary schools.
93% of children in Leicestershire will get to go to their parents’ first-choice in September, with 98% getting a place at one to one of their top three preferred.

The County Council says just over 7,400 applications were received and families are being made aware of the decisions from today.
Councillor Deborah Taylor, deputy leader and cabinet member for children and families, said: “We are delighted that the vast majority of children in Leicestershire have been offered a place at one of their top primary schools – and that so many were given their first choice.
“While this is really positive, we also recognise that not every pupil has secured one of the places they had hoped for and we would encourage families needing advice to get in touch as soon as possible to discuss what options may be available to them, including how to make an appeal.
“I’d like to wish all children starting school for the first time all the very best as they embark on their education journey.”
The admissions process in Leicestershire adheres to central government rules and gives parents the right to have an appeal heard by an independent panel.
Parents who applied on paper will receive a letter and those who applied online will receive an email about the decision.
North Northamptonshire Council say 92.7% of applicants – 3,576 children – have been allocated a place at their first preference, 4.3% have been allocated a place at their second preference and 1.5% their third preference.
