Decision Due On Plan To Limit Speakers At Planning Meetings

A decision will be taken tonight on whether to limit the number of public speakers at Harborough Council planning meetings.

Currently an unlimited number is allowed, although bosses say this creates an imbalance of representations and has also resulted in lengthy meetings, with some having to be adjourned and completed at a later date.

It is proposed just three people will be able to speak in favour of an application and three against.

Meanwhile, there’s also a recommendation to cut the number of councillors on the Planning Committee from 12 to 9 – although the political balance would stay the same.
