Councillors Back ‘Paws On The Doors’ Campaign

Harborough councillors have backed calls for more transparency over star ratings for animal businesses.

A dog owner whose pet died after escaping from a doggy care premises in another part of the country is campaigning for council’s to make the information easily accessible and started a petition.

The business involved in that incident had its rating downgraded as a result of what happened.

Victoria Owen’s ‘Paws On The Doors’ campaign was discussed at a meeting last night, which heard that although ratings for animal businesses are available on the district council’s website, they are not easy to find.

Businesses must also display the ratings at premises.

It was agreed a full report into making it easier for people to find the information will be brought to a future meeting of the council’s scrutiny committee.
