Council Set To Declare ‘Climate Emergency’

Harborough Council is set to declare a Climate Emergency next week.It follows calls by a group of young campaigners who held a protest demanding the action in March.

If approved by councilors, it would mean the authority pledging to do more to tackle climate change locally and developing an action plan to work towards being carbon neutral by 2030.

The opposition Liberal Democrat group has also tabled a motion to the Full Council meeting calling for the move to be taken

Leicestershire County Council declared a climate change emergency last month.
