Council Granted Permission To Dispose Of Pigs Seized From ‘Illegal Farm’

Permission has been granted for Leicestershire County Council to dispose of over 100 pigs seized from a suspected illegal pig farm in the Harborough District.

The authority secured an order at Leicester Magistrates’ Court today, enabling it to sell or re-home the 128 animals.

They were removed from a farm in Leire, near Lutterworth last month, after a number of other pigs, believed to have been slaughtered illegally, were discovered at the property on Dunton Road.

A joint investigation by Police and Trading Standards officers is on-going,

Four men arrested on suspicion of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal remain under investigation.
