Council ‘Exploring Options’ As Bus Cuts To Hit Harborough Estates

Written by on 6th December 2021

Leiecestershire County Council is ‘exploring potential options’ as two Market Harborough estates are set to lose bus services at peak times.

Operator Arriva is proposing to cut the Southern and Farndon Fields estates from the route of its X3 service from January.

The authority already subsidises the Centre Bus number 30 – which serves the estates between 10am and 4pm.

A Council spokesperson said: “We are aware of the planned changes to the Arriva X3 service.

“The council is currently in the process of assessing the impacts of these changes against its passenger transport policy and strategy.

“While the Farndon Fields Southern Estate will still be served during the day by other services the council is exploring what other potential options may be available.”

The proposed changes to the X3 route would also mean the frequency of buses to and from Market Harborough and Leicester would be cut from half-hourly to hourly.

Harborough MP Neil O’Brien and Council Leader Phil King will meet Arriva bosses later this week to discuss the situation.
