Leicester Grammar School in Great Glen is making vital PPE equipment for NHS workers on the frontline fighting Coronavirus.

A production line has been set-up in the design and technology department to make the face shields, using laser cutting equipment.

Staff, and pupils who remain at school because their parents are key workers are involved, with the assistance of local companies, including Precision Laser Services in Market Harborough and Coba Plastics in Fleckney, who are helping with some of the production elements and providing materials.

Katie Campbell is head of design, engineering and technology at the school and told Hfm they’ve already made over 2,000 and hope to have sent out 5,000 by the end of this week:

A Market Harborough well-being initiative is hosting weekly on-line sessions to encourage good mental health during the lock-down.
