Controversial plans to build 400 new houses in Kibworth were thrown out last night.
Harborough Council’s planning committee voted unanimously to reject the proposal by Manor Oaks Homes, for 81 acres of fields between Wistow Road and Warwick Road.
Councillors said the development would have a severe impact on traffic in the area – adding to the air quality problem in the village, and be a blot on the landscape.
The meeting also heard the proposal contravened the Harborough Local Plan and the Kibworths’ Neighbourhood Plan and that Kibworth has already met its current housing allocation target.
