Concern At Big Rise In Child Cruelty Crimes

Child cruelty and neglect crimes across the Hfm region have ‘soared’ in the past five years, according to the NSPCC.
Offences recorded by Leicestershire Police have more than trebled, with 115 investigations launched in the past year, up from 37 in 2013/14.
In Northamptonshire the figure is almost ten times higher than it was in 2014, with 296 cases looked into by officers – up from 30.
Reports to police included extreme cases of when parents or carers deliberately neglected, assaulted, abandoned or exposed their child to serious harm and unnecessary suffering.
