Community Rallies To Support Market Harborough Family

Written by on 23rd February 2026

A fundraising appeal set up by a Market Harborough family to help prolong their mum’s life has raised more than £18,500 in just a week.

Lucy Goodwin, who first battled stage 4 breast cancer in 2018 and was declared cancer-free in 2020, has now been told the disease has returned and spread to the bones in her back.

Her four children are hoping to raise £40,000 to fund specialist treatment in Mexico, which is not available on the NHS, to help them make more precious memories with their mum.

Lucy, a single mother to four children aged 21, 18, 16, and 13, has always worked hard to provide for her family and since December 2025, she has been unable to work due to her illness, placing a huge emotional and financial strain on her family.

Her eldest daughter, Daisy, told HFM the support the family has received so far has been amazing:

L-R Lola, Lucy, Daisy, Louis and Tiana Goodwin

In addition to the fundraiser, Daisy and friends will be climbing Mount Snowdon to raise money and awareness.
