Community Groups Handed Cash Thanks To Efforts Of Swimmers

Grants totalling nearly £6,000 have been handed to a host of charity and community groups in and around Market Harborough thanks to the efforts of swimmers.
140 people in 28 teams took part in the town’s SwiMarathon at Harborough Leisure Centre in March, with the majority of money raised going to support local causes.

The grants were awarded to 20 groups at a event held at Market Harborough Golf Club.
Amy Ducker from Leicestershire Wildlife Hospital in Kibworth told HFM the money awarded will be going towards something important:
The SwiMarathon has raised nearly £80,000 since it was launched, with all money raised donated to local worthy organisations and other Rotary charities.
Harborough District Guides were also awarded a grant and Hayley Cobbold told HFM it will be spent on equipment:

Other community groups to receive grants included HFM, Great Bowden Academy, Great Bowden Flower Guild, Market Harborough Brownies, Scouts in Market Harborough, Market Harborough C of E Academy, Holiday at Home in Market Harborough, HAB Anti-bullying & Mental Health and Medbourne Village Hall.
Plans are now afoot for the 2024 event, will take place on the 2/3 March.
