Community Groups Celebrate

Community groups are celebrating a cash windfall totaling £50,000 from Harborough Council’s Community Grant Fund.

Projects that will help increase participation in physical activity, support vulnerable people and help create stronger communities have been handed a share of the money.

Those to benefit are:

  • Misterton and Walcote Parish Council– Skatepark ramp – £2,356.36
  • Leire Parish Council– Zip wire and balance beam for play area – £2,356.36
  • The Well, Kibworth– improve wi-fi, redevelop website and advertising – £4,250
  • Glooston Village Hall– Create terrace and parking at rear of the hall – £5,000
  • HCYC– Travelling forward project in Ullesthorpe – £4,171
  • Leicestershire and Rutland Association of Local Councils– Design and deliver a series of webinars – £2,843.88
  • Houghton Bowls Club– Irrigation system for bowling green – £5,000
  • Newton Harcourt Reading Room– Kitchen refurbishment – £3,700
  • Tugby & Keythorpe Parish Council– Block paving for Tugby Memorial Hall to provide access for wheelchair users – £2,696.40
  • Vista– Children’s early years Health programme training workshops – £4,076
  • Kibworth Golf Club– To provide low impact exercise to individuals with limited mobility and senior citizens – £2,650
  • Saddington Village Green Management Team– Development of the Village Green to include re-building a boundary wall and installation of a knee-rail boundary fence – £4,250
  • Houghton Parish Council– Sports equipment and to introduce Boccia – £1,650
  • St Peters Church Project, Gaulby– Create a community space within church – £5,000

Cllr Janette Ackerley, Harborough District Council’s portfolio holder for Wellbeing and Localities, said: “I’m delighted that we have been able to share such a substantial amount of money to help fund a number of exciting and worthwhile projects which will benefit a large number of residents across the whole of the district.”
