Celebrations For Harborough Sport!

There are celebrations for Market Harborough sport after teams excelled in competitions.
Students from Welland Park Academy won all three age group titles at the South Leicestershire Schools Athletics Championships, the first time the school has secured the triple.

Over 100 athletes from the Academy took part and Head of PE, Jason Button said “Well done to everyone involved and this really shows that all the hard work put in by the students at the Athletics Club each week does pay off.”
And the Market Harborough Youth Netball Club came fourth in the National Clubs Final – a first for the club, the county and region.
The under-14s team was the first from Market Harborough to win their regional league, beating all comers from Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Rutland and following a further qualifying tournament in April, won the opportunity to play at National level to represent the East Midlands.

There is also good news for Market Harborough Chess Club, who have returned to the top flight league after more than 20 years, following a successful season with both the first and second teams winning promotion for the second year running.
