Car Fire Closes Village Road

No-one was hurt after a car set on fire near Newton Harcourt last night.

The fire service was called to Newton Lane just before 8pm and Police closed the road while the incident was dealt with.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police told Hfm: “Police were called at 7.48pm yesterday (Monday) by Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service who had been called to a report of a car on fire in Newton Lane, Newton Harcourt.

“The driver was out of the vehicle and no injuries were reported.

“Road closures were put in place to allow for the recovery of the vehicle.

“The road was reopened at around 9.50pm.”

Firefighters from Wigston attended the incident.
