Campaign Launched To Fight New Homes Plan

Residents have formed a campaign group to fight plans for 85 new homes between two housing estates in Market Harborough.

They have a number of concerns about the proposal for 30 acres of fields separating the Farndale View and Farndon Fields estates, including flood risk, loss of habitat and the impact on roads and health services.

Developer Manor Oak Homes submitted a planning application to Harborough District Council last month.

Documents note the area is to be re-wilded as part of the development ‘through the provision of new meadows, woodland and wetland habitats,’ would include a children’s play area and new recreational walking routes through the meadows and woods.

Campaigners are distributing leaflets around both estates to alert residents to the plan and encouraging them to object to it.
