Bomb Disposal Team Called In After Treasure Hunters Unearth Artillery Shell

A controlled explosion was carried after treasure hunters unearthed an artillery shell in a field near Lutterworth yesterday.
The group of metal detectorists called Police just before 11am and officers then alerted an Army Explosives Ordnance Disposal team.
The shell, believed to have been from WW2, was examined before the controlled explosion was carried out.
The road was closed for several hours and a cordon put in place for public safety while the incident was dealt with.
