Banking Hub Announcement Welcomed

The announcement a Banking Hub is set to open in Market Harborough later this month is being welcomed.

The facility will operate from the District Council’s Symington Building on a temporary basis, while a search for a permanent home for it continues.

It will allow customers of different banks to receive in-person service, following the closure of a number of branches in the town centre.

Work to fit out the space in the Adam and Eve Street building is getting underway and Cash Access UK is expected to open the banking hub at the end of February.

The hub will be operated by Post Office employees, where customers of any bank can withdraw and deposit cash, make bill payments and carry out regular banking transactions, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

There will also be a community banker service available where people can talk to their own bank about more complicated issues on the day their bank is in the hub.
