Arrest After Lorry Trailer Full Of Make-Up Stolen In Lutterworth

A man has been arrested after a lorry trailer full of make-up was stolen from an industrial estate in Lutterworth early this morning.

Police were alerted just after 2am, after a witness saw it being attached to a lorry cab in a secure compound on Bilton Way, which had been broken into.

The lorry was stopped on the A5 near the Warwickshire border 30 minutes later, with officers on the ground assisted by the National Police Air Service.

The man, aged 35 from Wolverhampton, is being questioned on suspicion of theft.

Police say the trailer contained make-up of various makes but could not confirm the total value.

Detective Inspector Charles Edwards from Leicestershire Police said: “This result shows the great teamwork by all those involved.  That initial call from a witness led to the arrest within half-an-hour and we’d like to thank them for their assistance.

“Our enquiries continue into the incident and the suspect remains in custody.  If anyone witnessed the incident or the trailer being driven along the A5 and haven’t yet spoken to officers we would encourage you to do so.

“Also, if you were driving along the A5 in Hinckley around the time of the incident and have video recording equipment installed in your vehicle, we would ask that you check the footage and contact us if you have captured anything that may assist us.”
