Appeal To Be Lodged After Plan For ‘Sustainable’ Homes Rejected

Written by on 29th June 2022

Owners of a Harborough Well-Being Centre are to appeal the decision to refuse them permission to build sustainable homes on part of the site.

Concerns over residential development in the open countryside were among reasons the plan for Archway Health and Well-being Centre was rejected by Harborough District Council.

Councillors did grant planning permission for new environmentally-friendly business buildings to go up at the site between Market Harborough and Lubenham.

Archway’s joint-owner Alec Welton has welcomed that, but says the seven ‘self-build’ homes, which would also have generated all their own power and heating needs, were a key part of the overall plan:

A government-appointed planning inspector will now review the plan before ruling on if the Council’s decision will be overturned.
