Appeal for witnesses after fatal crash near Lutterworth

Police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal crash near Lutterworth.

Emergency services were called to the A426 Rugby Road at 6.24am today following a collision involving a blue Nissan Micra and a white HGV.

The driver of the Micra was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The HGV driver was not injured.

The crash happened between the Lutterworth Road island and Gibbet Hill.

Detective Sergeant Kasie McMahon, from Leicestershire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “At the time of the collision, the Micra was travelling towards Lutterworth while the HGV was travelling in the opposite direction.

“We would like to appeal to anyone who saw the collision, the vehicles beforehand or the circumstances leading up to it to please get in touch.

“Anyone who may also have dashcam footage which captured anything relating to the collision is also asked to make contact.”

The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident but has since reopened.
