Appeal Vandals Damage Play Equipment In Welland Park
Written by HFM News on 12th April 2021
Vandals have damaged play equipment in Market Harborough’s Welland Park.
Parts of a climbing frame in the children’s playground area were ripped off sometime on Saturday evening or early on Sunday.
A spokesman for Harborough District Council told Hfm: “This is mindless and wilful destruction to play equipment at a time when people are being encouraged to enjoy fresh air and the outdoors.
“We have met with police on site this morning and made the equipment safe to use.
“The damaged equipment will need to be replaced but this may take a number of weeks. We appeal to anyone with information about this incident to contact police.”

There were also problems with anti-social behaviour at parks in Market Harborough and Kibworth over the weekend, with Police being called to reports of large groups of youths and underage drinking.
Harborough Police say dealing with such incidents is delaying response times to more serious calls.
A statement posted on Facebook on Saturday morning said: “Last night multiple officers spent time between parks in Harborough and Kibworth.
“It is really disappointing & preventable and wastes our time. This would have affected our attendance to incidents like domestics & burglaries in progress. Groups dispersed when we arrived!”
At the Symington’s Recreation Ground volunteers from Borough Alliance Football Club had to clear broken glass bottles from pitches before training could begin on Saturday morning.
Broken glass also had to be cleared from the play area at the Smeeton Road Recreation Ground in Kibworth and damage was caused to fencing at a care home on Fleckney Road in Kibworth.
