All Change For Town Bus Services

New bus services will be launched in Market Harborough next week.

Four new circular routes will operate in and around the town from Monday, as part of the ‘Harborough Connect’ network being introduced by Leicestershire County Council.

The services will be operated by Centrebus and be known as HC 1, 2, 3 and 4 – replacing the current 33 and 30 bus services.

The changes aim to improve access to the town centre, St Luke’s Hospital, leisure centre, railway station and schools.

Sunday services will also be introduced on all routes and new evening journeys on Friday and Saturdays will operate on a trial basis.

The new network follow a review of bus services subsidised by the council and Cllr Dan Harrison, leader of Leicestershire County Council, said: “We have listened to your feedback and want to create real change for bus users in Leicestershire.

“These changes will better connect communities to key destinations. New routes also mean that it will be easier for local people to get to and from work.”

A new service between Harborough and Corby will also run on Saturdays and Wednesdays for a 12-month pilot period.

Steve Jones from Harborough Transport Action Group told HFM the changes should provide an improved level of service for passengers:

There will also be some minor changes to the recently re-named LC4 service between Fleckney and Market Harborough, via Foxton.

Based on passenger feedback, the service will be streamlined for a more direct route and reduced journey times, along with improved access to St Luke’s Hospital.
