An abandoned lorry trailer has been removed from a layby near Lutterworth after a large amount of rotten meat was discovered inside.
Police and council officials attended the scene after being alerted by concerned members of the public about the stench emanating from the trailer.

Cllr Darren Woodiwiss, Cabinet lead for Climate Change and Neighbourhood Services at Harborough District Council, said: “Council officers attended an abandoned lorry trailer in a lay-by on the A426 just south of Dunton Bassett, following concerns received by members of the public in relation to smells.
“The police also attended site, and upon opening the trailer it was discovered that it contained a large amount of rotten animal by-product.”
The council worked with partners, including Trading Standards at Leicestershire County Council, to arrange for the removal of the trailer and enquiries are on-going.
