South Leicestershire Conservative MP Alberto Costa has resigned from his government post over an amendment he tabled on citizens’ rights after Brexit.
He has quit from the unpaid role as parliamentary private secretary in the Scotland Office.
It’s understood although the Prime Minister did not oppose his proposals, it was the convention that members of the administration should not table amendments to government motions.
