Aaron Collects British Empire Medal For Services To Covid-19 Response

A Desborough man has been presented with a British Empire Medal after making over 6,000 face shields for NHS and care workers at the start of the pandemic.
Aaron Shrive used 3D printers to produce the vital PPE for no charge, often working 18 hour a days to send them as far away as Scotland, at a time there was a national shortage of such items.

Aaron, who was living in Market Harborough at the time in 2020, was named in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours for services to the Covid-19 response.
He received donations of money and materials to enable him to produce the face shields and says he could not have done it without the help of the community.
The former Robert Smyth Academy student was presented with his medal by James Saunders Watson, the Lord Lieutenant of Northamptonshire and will attend a Garden party at Buckingham Palace later this month.
